Oxygen cylinders and cryocylinders


More than 100 years of oxygen widely used in almost all medical institutions around the world. And all the while his delivery in health facilities was carried out in a traditional way – with a steel cylinder. Standard oxygen cylinder – a steel cylindrical vessel 70 kg, 40-liter, filled with gaseous oxygen up to 150 atmospheres (15 MPa).

In the 80-90s in large medical institutions have to supply medical oxygen through the gasification of 3, 5 and 8 m2, which is equivalent to 400-600 cylinders of oxygen gas. In Kiev it is such medical institutions such as the National Cancer Institute, the National Children’s Hospital “OHMATDET”, Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. N.Amosov and others.
Gasifiers are equipped with one third of health facilities in Kiev and about 10-15% – of all medical institutions of Ukraine.
The gasifier is an integrated unit consisting of:

  • tank for storage and delivery of liquid oxygen;
  • vaporizer for converting the liquid to gaseous oxygen with the ambient temperature.

The reservoir consists of inner vessel, reinforcing the cabinet filled with instrumentation, control and safety valves. The space between the vessel zub and the casing is filled with an insulating material and evacuate that allows you to store liquid oxygen for quite a long time before using it.
Use of this gasifier has a number of significant advantages over the supply of bottled: the exclusion of the use of heavy physical labor for loading / unloading, the lack of high pressure (operating pressure of the gasifier from 2 to 16 atm.), The availability of safety devices, reducing the cost of delivery of oxygen, etc. .
There are a number of drawbacks that hinder the installation of these gasifiers – the cost of gasifiers (700-800 UAH depending on the volume) and the availability of acceptable distances from medical and administrative buildings (as an object of increased security), which is especially important when there is no vacancy in the medical institutions located within the city.


The solution drawbacks when using a large amount of gasifiers is the use of gasifiers small volume (kriotsilindr DPL 450170-1,37; DPL 450 210-2,88).
Kriotsilindr – is a cryogenic vessel made of stainless steel, equipped with screen-vacuum insulated and equipped with shut-off and control valves, level, economizer control devices, control system and maintain the pressure for converting the liquid oxygen in the gas.
Using kriotsilindr greatly enhances operational safety due to reduced operating pressure (up to 14 atm. Compared with a cylinder in which 150 atm.), Safety (safety valve, bursting disc), reduction of labor to maintain. Cost kriotsilindr 35-40 th.
These kriotsilinders good use in medical institutions at the rate of 100-400 containers per month. We should also mention the possibility of using existing kriotsilindr on oxygen distribution stations in health care facilities, which reduces the cost of implementation.
